'Heart Attack' singer and former US X Factor judge Demi will lend her voice to the new 3D animation, which is scheduled for a 2017 release.
According to Deadline, the reboot by Sony Pictures Animation, will be titled Get Smurfy marking the third adventure into the blue world.
Joining Demi will be Rainn Wilson as the villainous Gargamel, and the previously announced Mandy Patinkin as Papa Smurf.
In the animation, Smurfette and her brothers navigate the Enchanted Forest in search of a fabled Smurfs village before Gargamel finds it. And, according to Smurfs creator Peyo Culliford, fans will find out all the answers to the questions we've been asking for years, incluiding why there's only ever been one girl.
Demi is known for her acting and singing, having starred in 2008 film, Camp Rock. Get Smurfy is due to be released in March 2017.
