The actress married Pirates of the Caribbean star Johnny at a private ceremony in Los Angeles in February, following an engagement the previous year.
Now, in an interview with ELLE US, the star has opened up about married life for the first time…
She said: "Nothing is a dramatic change. We've been together for a long time now, so it's been a fairly organic process. I have a fiercely independent spirit."
Amber's independent spirit is clear throughout her interview, as she speaks about going against type and having to fight for grittier roles because of her image - or prove she's more than just Mrs Depp.
"I get a stack of scripts, like, once a month, and most of the time, you find these placeholder girls that are there to provide a bounce for the male character. So we know he's funny because she's serious and she's mad at him. We know he's strong because she needs saving. So really her job is to validate this personality trait of our hero or male.
"I mean we're trying to imitate life, and it seems to me a deeply saddening injustice that we are so uncreative and uninterested in developing representations of female life."
Amber, 29, can next be seen in Magic Mike XXL, the sequel to the rather popular Magic Mike starring Channing Tatum and Joe Manganiello.
Amber's full interview is available in the July 2015 issue of ELLE. Pick up the issue on newsstands nationwide on June 23 to read the full story.
