Bruce Jenner has been unveiled as Caitlyn Jenner on the cover of Vanity Fair - the first photo unveiling his transition into a woman.

It was rumoured over the weekend that Bruce would appear on the magazine following his tell-all interview in April, where he revealed: "For all intents and purposes, I'm a woman."

On the cover, Caitlyn, who appears to be sitting on a stool, wears a satin corset and sports long, brunette locks.

In the magazine, Caitlyn reveals: "If I was lying on my deathbed and I had kept this secret and never ever did anything about it, I would be lying there saying, 'You just blew your entire life.'"

Following the release of the pictures, Caitlyn has now joined Twitter.

She said: "I'm so happy after such a long struggle to be living my true self. Welcome to the world Caitlyn. Can't wait for you to get to know her/me."

The photo comes after the former Olympian, 65, gave a two-hour interview to ABC News in April, confirming ongoing rumours about transitioning into a woman.

During the interview, Bruce - who did not reveal his female name at the time - told Diane Sawyer: "For all intents and purposes, I'm a woman. People look at me differently. They see you as this macho male, but my heart and my soul and everything that I do in life - it is part of me. That female side is part of me. That's who I am."
