Attorney Amy. S Lawrence said that Nathan didn't want to press charges but was encouraged to do so by law enforcement, and now he wants to have the charges dropped.

"He understands that she's hurt because they've broken up, and he's dating somebody else and things escalated in a way they shouldn't have," she explained "But he does not want her to have any kind of criminal consequence for this."

It's expected Jenelle will report to the police station today.

A tweet posted to Jenelle's official Twitter account said: "For those asking,Jenelle was at Nathan's to pick up her son.Nathan stole her phone & refused to hand over Kaiser. This is how it started."

According to a police report published by My Myrtle Beach online, police officers at the scene noticed Nathan had a ripped shirt and scratches. The report claims Nathan accused Jenelle of attacking him.

Jenelle and Nathan started the year blissfully happy after Nathan proposed to the MTV star during a tropical holiday. Jenelle later described him as her best friend.

The couple have one child together, son Kaiser, born in 2014. Jenelle is also mum to son Jace, five. Her pregnancy and the birth of Jace was documented in MTV's Teen Mom.
