Ricky Rayment has clarified reports about his exit from TOWIE, insisting that he did not quit the show.

After a day of speculation about why he departed the hit ITVBe series, the reality star took to Twitter to assure everyone knew it was a mutual decision between himself and the producers, rather than him choosing to walk away.

He tweeted: "Guys, please relax, leaving TOWIE was a mutual decision between myself and producers, I didn't quit the show."

It had been rumoured by one outlet that Ricky left the Essex show after bosses banned his Geordie Shore girlfriend from appearing, though, judging from his tweet, this wasn't the case.

Ricky joined the show back in 2012 and had been one of the most familiar faces on screen. His main storyline over the past three years involved his relationship with co-star and now-ex-girlfriend Jessica Wright.

Announcing his exit today, Ricky said: "I can confirm I've decided to take a break from TOWIE,I would like to thank the shows producers, the whole crew & cast! Gonna miss you all. I also want to say thank you to all the TOWIE fans.. It's been an EPIC journey that I've loved sharing with you guys! Will miss you all xx."

That means Ricky will not be jetting off to Marbella this weekend with his co-stars to film scenes for the upcoming 15th series of TOWIE.

Meanwhile, reps for Ricky have confirmed that he will not be joining girlfriend Marnie on Geordie Shore, saying he has not been booked for any episodes of the MTV show.

Ricky has, however, teased there are big projects for his future, telling fans he has "exciting news" coming soon.
