Louis Walsh has insisted there is no bad blood between himself and X Factor judge Cheryl Fernandez-Versini, however, Cheryl has suggested otherwise...

Since last week, Louis has been embroiled in a war of words with Cheryl after branding the former Girls Aloud star as "lazy and irrelevant". The pair have gone back and forth with jibes, and even Simon Cowell has waded in!

In a new interview with the Mirror, Louis said: "I got a text from Cheryl, but we haven't really fallen out – she was just saying funny things. She knows I'm writing a book, so it's all fun and games, there's no nastiness."

However, this afternoon Cheryl denied that her text messages were humorous. Sharing Louis' quotes in an image, Cheryl wrote on Instagram: "Back pedal until out of sight.

"Ps) I would not have found the text messages I sent to be 'funny' but ok!! Toodles."

Louis, who is believed not to be returning to The X Factor this year, also said in an interview with the Daily Star about Cheryl: "Things are good. I'm a loose cannon, I say things, that's it. I can't stop myself. When I see her I'll say sorry. It's the same with Simon, but we are all friends."

Last week, Simon compared Louis and Cheryl to famous TV characters Tom and Jerry. Simon said on ITV's Good Morning Britain: "There was always going to be a clash. They're like Tom and Jerry, those two. I wish they'd fight more on the show, actually. Why do it on Twitter?"
