Former Geordie Shore stars Ricci Guarnaccio and Jay Gardner have been forced to sell their bar Attico and Verve after just seven weeks of ownership.

The boys were super-excited to announce last year that they had taken over the Sunderland nightspot, but it seems their Geordie reps have cost them their venture.

According to the bar's new owner, Kelly Hudson, Attico and Verve had become "too Geordie" for Sunderland's liking.

She explained: "The problem is nothing to do with them personally, they have parted from the bar on good terms... They are so linked with Newcastle, it just didn't work in Sunderland."

Both Ricci and Jay come from Newcastle and shot to stardom starring on Geordie Shore. While Jay decided to leave the show after the first three series, Ricci lasted for four after joining Geordie Shore in series two.

The pair have stayed firm friends since the show and less than two months ago the boys launched their first bar together, hosting many celebrity faces on their opening night.

Guests included Ricci's CBB housemates, Gogglebox's George Gilbey and Benefits Street star Dee Kelly (White Dee).
