Late last month, Ian and Twilight star Nikki secretly tied the knot just two months after announcing their engagement.
And on hearing about their nuptials, Nina has insisted she is more than happy for her former flame and the new 'Mrs Somerhalder'.
Speaking to E!, Nina said: "When I heard about the wedding, I thought it was beautiful. They look happy and I am happy, so I don't see why there should be a problem with that."
The US beauty was forced to address Ian's big day after fans speculated his new marriage was the reason Nina had decided to leave The Vampire Diaries.
Nina and Ian, who play couple Elena Gilbert and Damon Salvatore on the show, dated for three years before deciding to end their romance in May 2013. Despite calling time on their relationship, the pair still had to work together and have continued to act as boyfriend and girlfriend onscreen.
Reassuring fans Ian's new relationship is not the reason behind her exit, Nina claimed there is no bad blood between her and her co-star, insisting she and Ian are still firm friends.
"I've said this before, we didn't break up because anything bad happened or because there wasn't love or friendship," she explained. "I love him and the friendship is still strong."
Nina added: "I think [Ian] is great and I care about him... that didn't change. We were friends long before we dated and we still are now."
Nina's latest comments come after she recently announced her decision to quit The Vampire Diaries after starring on the show for six years.
Hanging up her boots as the show's leading lady Elena, Nina claimed she always knew she would only stick around for six seasons.
Addressing fans, she told them: "I always knew I wanted Elena's story to be a six season adventure, and within those six years I got the journey of a lifetime... I invite you to hop on the roller coaster ride that is Elena Gilbert's life and join me as I celebrate her and prepare to say goodbye to her."
Promising an exciting ending for her character, she teased: "Fasten your seatbelts. If you think you know what's coming, you don't."
News of Nina's departure first surfaced last month and the 26-year-old admitted her exit had leaked earlier than she expected. Despite hoping to keep it under the radar for a little while longer, Nina said the news breaking early was a "blessing in disguise" as she got to say goodbye to the show, its cast and its fans properly.
Even if things did get pretty emotional!
Nina's exit will air this Thursday in the US during The Vampire Diaries' season finale.
