The heir to the throne became a granddad for the second time when his son Prince William's wife Kate Middleton gave birth to a baby girl.
Charles had admitted during Kate's pregnancy that he was hoping for a baby girl and over the weekend shared his excitement that the wish came true.
"I am really rather thrilled. She is beautiful. I was hoping for a granddaughter - someone to look after me when I am very old!" he told onlookers, according to Daily Mail.
Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana of Cambridge was born on Saturday, 2 May at St. Mary's Hospital in Paddington, London. She weighted 8lbs 4o3.
When Charlotte's big brother, Prince George, was born, Prince Charles and his wife Camilla visited William, Kate and the new baby in hospital. This time around, the family left hospital the same day Kate gave birth, so Charles and Camilla visited them at home in Kensington Palace.
Now, Kate, William, George and Charlotte are safely ensconced at Anmer Hall in Norfolk, where they're expected to remain for several weeks.
They were gifted the country mansion by the Queen on their wedding day. It's situated within the Sandringham Estate and Kate reportedly oversaw all the redecoration before the family moved in.
