At first, 33-year-old Britney assured concerned fans that she was "ok" from her "little scare" on stage, but now she has had to reschedule shows after getting advice from the doctor.

Britney revealed to fans last night: "Breaks my heart to share this news. After hurting my ankle last night my doctor has advised me not to perform this weekend #Heartbroken. Your kind words mean everything to me! I'm rescheduling this weekend's shows and will let ya'll know when we have the new dates."

A further statement from the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino said Britney's doctor recommended she take two days to heal.

Britney was performing her 1999 hit song "(You Drive Me) Crazy" when she took a tumble on stage.

Britney kicked off her residency on 27 December last year, and she was initially contracted to perform 50 shows per year in 2014 and 2015.
