Nathan was in the band with Max George, Siva Kaneswaran, Jay McGuiness and Tom Parker, but they decided to take a hiatus in Janaury 2014 to pursue personal endeavours.
While Max has been forging out a career acting, Siva has been modelling and Nathan has stuck with the music.
Speaking to MTV, Nathan revealed: "They've been great; they've been really good. I've spoken to a couple of them [and] they've been wicked and everyone is really focused on their own thing and really working hard.
"They haven't heard the music yet because everyone has just been so busy, but they've been really good."
Nathan said he decided to continue with his music following the band's break because "I'm far to young to stop doing what I love".
Fans can expect to see a lot of Nathan in the coming months as he rolls out his new solo material. The 22-year-old will release 'Kiss Me Quick' as his debut solo single and we've already been given a taster of his "soulful pop" material after hearing uptempo track, 'More Than You'll Ever Know'.
Earlier this month, Nathan previewed his new music to fans in a series of intimate gigs around the UK.
