Kendall Jenner has said adults laughed at her behind her back when she first tried to launch a modelling career.

The 19-year-old told V Magazine that her Keeping Up With The Kardashians fame did not guarantee fashion world success, and instead she found herself up against people who had a pre-conceived notion of her.

Kendall said: "You have no idea how many doors closed on me and how many adults were either initially reluctant to take a chance working with me or who outright laughed at me behind my back. It was kind of hard because all I was doing was going on go-sees, trying my best to break into this business as a teenager."

Now, the teenager is one of the most famous models in the world, gracing the catwalks at New York, Milan, London and Paris Fashion Weeks, and starring in campaigns for major brands like Calvin Klein.

"I am so grateful to Marc Jacobs, Riccardo Tisci, Karl Lagerfeld, and Katie Grand, who took a chance on me that first season and gave me an opportunity. My parents taught me that work ethic is one of the most important keys in life, and I believe it."

Kendall has just returned to LA from New York, where she was shooting an editorial for Vogue.

She recently explained why KUWTK viewers never see her modelling career on the E! show, saying she wanted to keep her two worlds separate. She told GQ: "I told them from the beginning. I was like, 'Okay, love you guys, but we're not gonna do this. You're not gonna follow me to shows, you're not gonna be with me on this ride.'"
