Zayn was with Gurinder yesterday to watch the Bend It Like Beckham musical at the Phoenix Theatre in London.
Captioning the photo posted via Twitter, Gurinder said: "This lovely young man is coming to see @BendItMusical, I'm going to sneak him in. So happy to see him happy!"
Last week, Gurinder revealed that she has had discussions with Zayn, who is a trained actor, about possibly appearing in an upcoming movie.
She told The Mirror: "We've met and spoken. He trained as an actor first and then became part of the band. So I think what he'll be doing is staying true to his heart – and that's all you can ever do."
Zayn sensationally quit One Direction last month after five years in the band. He revealed in the statement that he wanted to be a normal 22-year-old again, and his bandmates - Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan - said they respected his decision.
One Direction are now continuing as a four-piece and they are currently working on their new studio album.
Following his exit, it has been widely rumoured that Zayn will release solo material after working with close friend and producer Naughty Boy.
