Remember X Factor star Laura White? She was a favourite on the fifth series in 2008, but was voted off the show after ending up in the sing-off during the live shows in week five.

Now, some seven years later, Laura has signed her first record deal with Turn First Records.

The label and management company list Ellie Goulding, Rita Ora, Conor Maynard and Iggy Azaela on their roster.

Laura told fans: "I just signed my first record deal after my 12 years of endless work with the amazing Sarah Stennett and my manager the wonderful Lucy Tallant. Dreams come true. Here's to your album, my fans from the start...x."

Laura was an instant favourite on The X Factor in 2008, and her soulful pop tones earned her praise from the judges, audience and fans, but her shock exit caused uproar.

While fans launched a petition to get her back on the show, her exit was even mentioned in Parliament.

While she may have been away from our TV screens, Laura has continued to pen songs for leading pop artists.

Having penned hits for the likes of Cher Lloyd and Leona Lewis, Laura's most recent soon-to-be hit is Rita Ora's new track with Charles Hamilton, 'New York Raining'.
