Man arrested after alleged Ryan Reynolds hit and run in Canada

A man has been arrested in connected with an alleged hit and run incident involving Ryan Reynolds in Canada.

A rep for the Proposal actor has said he was struck by a photographer's car while walking through an underground garage in Vancouver recently.

He was not seriously hurt in the incident.

Now, a 52-year-old man has been arrested and police are recommending a charge of intimidation in relation to the incident.

The man was later released from police custody and a court date set for 28 April.

In a media release, the Vancouver Police said: "Shortly before 7:00 p.m. on Friday, April 10th, the victim was approached by a photographer in the secured underground parking lot at the hotel. During the confrontation, the driver struck the victim with his car as he fled the lot. There were no significant injuries sustained as a result of the contact."

The release said investigators had spoken with Ryan and witnesses, as well as the alleged driver. They also viewed security footage.

Ryan made light of the incident on Twitter shortly after it happened. When a local TV station asked him to phone and let them know he was okay, he replied: "Put Beachcombers back on air and I'll call," referring to a Canadian TV show that run from 1972 until 1990.
