Former Coronation Street star Michelle is back in Salford, Manchester, to film Chris Green's new loan shark film.
Speaking to the Daily Star, she said: "The whole cast are great to work with and it's fab to back in my hometown working on such a gritty project."
Strangeways Here We Come follows the residents of Owen Street in Salford as they get sucked into loans and trapped by the astronomical interest rates of evil loan shark Danny Nolan, played by EastEnders and Shameless star Stephen Lord.
Michelle quit Coronation Street as barmaid Tina McIntyre last year, and fans are currently watching the actress on screen as car sales receptionist Tracy in BBC One drama Ordinary Lies, but she said her new film role is very different.
"I play a character called Demi, who is totally different to the characters I've played before," Michelle explained. "She has many insecurities as a young girl on the Salford estate she's from and is quite an anxious, fragile and introverted character."
Michelle has already started filming the comedy drama, which has previously been described as a "whodunit story that crackles with wicked laughs, wild party enthusiasm and grisly twists".
The 27-year-old stars alongside The Paradise star Elaine Cassidy, Misfits' Lauren Socha and EastEnders star Nina Wadia.
