Lydia confided in her mum Debbie Douglas and best friend Lewis Bloor about her fears that Ben wasn't the man for her.
Following weeks of apparent flirting between Lydia and Arg, which has been noticed by their co-stars, Bella Sorella owner Lydia decided to adress the issue after realising she enjoyed the company of Arg more than Ben.
Lydia told her mum that she was confused about her feelings for her former flame.
"It's like a rollercoaster us two, half the time I don't even know," she admitted. "I don't think there's anyone that I get on better with than James and I care about him so much and we get on so well and have a laugh.
"God do we fight," she continued. "We're awful, we fight like cat and dog - but I always say the best times of my life are with James and the worst times of my life are with James. With Ben it's always so steady. It's a hard situation."
And it wasn't long before Lydia called Lewis called to reveal that she was going to end her whirlwind romance with Ben, who she met while travelling in Thailand.
"I really want it to work with Ben but I don't think I've got that spark with him," she revealed. "What's the point in going on if you're nor excited about something?"
Lewis asked if Lydia's decision was anything to do with Arg. "I do still have that soft spot for him but whether we're meant to be together or not, I'm confused," she admitted. "I've been hanging out with James and he makes me laugh, and then it makes me realise how Ben doesn't make me laugh."
When it came to the disco in the evening, Lydia revealed she was now a single girl again. She told Georgia Kousoulou and Tommy Mallet: 'Me and Ben have called things off. I said, 'Ben you're lovely, you're perfect, you're such a lovely lovely guy, and I really like you as a person but I just don't know if we've got that connection.'
"Well he was like, 'I totally agree with you Lydia'. I've never been so relieved in my life. I used to feel riddled with guilt, my mind was everywhere because I was getting on with James more than I do with Ben."
In no time at all, Arg came over on his skates, and he tried his hardest hide his excitement: "Sorry to hear that. No I am genuinely sorry to hear that. Good for you. You've had to make your own decision and you've made it. I haven't put any pressure on you or anything."
