Jacqueline Jossa cuddled up to newborn daughter Ella last night after praising boyfriend Dan Osborne as her "best friend" and a "brilliant father."

The EastEnders actress - who is currently on maternity leave from the soap - shared a sweet image of herself and Ella to Instagram on Tuesday evening (31 March).

In the snap, Jac is seen gazing down at her sleepy daughter, who was born in February.

Her caption simply read: "Snuggles."

Jacqueline's touching picture came a few hours after she defended her TOWIE star boyfriend Dan, following renewed claims from his ex-girlfriend that he'd been manipulative and controlling towards her.

In a series of Twitter posts, Jac spoke about her love for Dan and hinted people didn't know the whole truth.

"I can assure you I wouldn't stand by a man capable of everything dan has been made out to be, he is my best friend, boyfriend and he is a brilliant father, above all else, I just want to clear up, he has never once been violent or even shown signs towards me at all.

"People selling stories on him, show one side to a story, but people around dan know the whole truth, and you would all be shocked.

"I am 100 percent not saying what Daniel has said was right or okay, but people make mistakes when on dark places, and it's something that we sorted out privately not in front of the whole world, it's something he has apologised for and is embarrassed about."

Earlier this year, audio recordings emerged of phone conversations between Dan and his ex, who is the mother of his son Teddy, one. In them, he's verbally abusive towards his former partner.

Essex star Dan issued a statement in March apologising for what was heard in the leaked audio recordings.

He said: "It has taken me a while to find the right words but I would like to say that I am truly sorry to anyone who was offended by what they heard.

"I am unable to talk about the difficulties with my current family situation but I am taking steps to resolve it to achieve the best outcome for my son. I am ashamed and embarrassed that I allowed myself to reach such a dark place that I behaved in a way that even I didn't recognise.

"While I acknowledge that there is absolutely no excuse for my deeply regrettable behaviour, I plead for some understanding that I had no intention of violence."
