The starlet's brand new BBC drama tells the tale of a group of ordinary people working at a car showroom, yet each have told a lie that spirals out of control.
With Michelle's character Tracy taking centre stage in tonight's episode, the former Coronation Street star - in the spirit of her new show - has revealed the biggest lie she has ever told. And she kept it up for a whole THREE weeks!
Making a glamorous appearance on BBC Breakfast earlier today, Michelle said: "I remember when I said to my mum I had a job - I genuinely thought I did have the job - and she went out and bought me loads of new clothes for it.
"It turned out I actually didn't get it in the end, but I felt that bad I used to get up at 7 in the morning, put my make up on, put the outfit on and go to "work".
"I just didn't want to disappoint her. I did it for three weeks until I eventually thought I can't get up at 7 in the morning anymore!"
On the show, Michelle stars alongside the likes of Max Beesley, EastEnders star Jo Joyner and Pirates of The Caribbean actor Mackenzine Crook.
Recalling the moment she joined her co-stars for a read through, Michelle admitted she was "in awe" of everyone.
"The cast is amazing. I couldn't believe it," she said.
Prior to starring in Ordinary Lies, Michelle quit her job of six years playing Tina McIntyre on Coronation Street.
While her character was killed off, Michelle revealed she had hoped the soap would have left it open for her return.
She added: "When they said they were thinking of killing Tina, it was a bit of a shock. But looking back on the storyline, I was very lucky to go out on such a high.
"At the time I left Corrie I thought I would like the door left open because it's always there. It was a bit of a comfort blanket. But [Tina being killed], I think it was definitely the way to go."
As well as working on her latest TV project, Michelle has been gearing up for her and her fiancé Mark Wright's wedding later this year.
So far the couple have kept quiet when it comes to discussing their big day, with Michelle explaining she and her beau like to keep some things "private" and to themselves.
The pair - who recently jetted back from a sunshine break in the Caribbean - announced they were set to wed in September 2013. Mark popped the question while he and Michelle were holidaying in Dubai - nine months after they first began dating.
Following his proposal, Michelle confirmed their engagement on Twitter, telling fans she is "SO happy" to become 'Mrs Wright'.
Ordinary Lies airs tonight at 9pm on BBC One.
