Mum-of-one Nadine hasn't released music since her 2010 debut album Insatiable, but now she is making a return to music.
Nadine, who is currently performing as Erin The Goddess in Dangerous Games, told the Daily Star: "I am recording the album as we speak and I'm so, so excited about it. I have about seven songs that I love."
Nadine said the album will "definitely" be out this year, adding: "I would like to go with a major label this time around but I'm just concentrating on making the album at the moment."
Nadine, 29, said her new sound will be "a little different" and likened her new musical direction to the sound of British trio London Grammar.
Nadine rose to fame as one-fifth of Girls Aloud in 2002, alongside Sarah Harding, Nicola Roberts, Kimberley Walsh and Cheryl Fernandez-Versini (known as Cheryl Cole at the time).
The band split in March 2013 after performing the final date of their 'Ten: The Hits Tour'.
