Auditions for the brand new 12th series kick off in April, and executive producer Richard Holloway has promised some "exciting changes" when the show airs on ITV in August.
Richard told The Mirror: "There will be some exciting changes. The name of the show will stay the same but we are looking at format and the judges. There will be some surprises this year. But I can't go into detail."
Last year saw the show's boss Simon Cowell back on the judging panel alongside Mel B, Louis Walsh and Cheryl Fernandez-Versini.
Richard has confirmed Simon will be back, but it appears the future of the other judges remain uncertain.
Richard said "it is safe to say Simon is staying," but he stressed the need to "refresh the show", especially as The X Factor is always in a ratings battle with Strictly Come Dancing.
Earlier this month, it was revealed that X Factor are hosting its biggest ever auditions tour, which will be held across 50 towns and cities in the UK and Ireland, starting from April.
