According to The Wrap, a spokesperson confirmed reports that the injury took place over the weekend and Johnny had not been shooting scenes for the movie at the time.

Johnny is thought to be flying back to the US for surgery now.

He was pictured at Brisbane International Airport on Tuesday, 10 March, giving a wave to photographers and looking quite cheerful.

Disney have said the release date of the new Pirates movie, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, will continue to be 7 July 2017.

Get well soon, Johnny!

The plot of Pirates of the Caribbean 5 has been kept firmly under wraps so it's unclear what Captain Jack Sparrow will be getting up to this time around.

We do know, however, that Johnny will be joined in the cast by former Skins star Kaya Scodelario.
