Last week, Sam's manager hinted at the news by tweeting: "What day to remember, well done @SamStrike exciting news to follow...."

And today, Sam retweeted another message by his manager, which read: "Many questions sent on my last tweet @SamStrike - he has been offered the lead role in a very big US film, Info soon."

Fans have been speculating that it could be an action movie, as Sam hinted himself via Twitter: "Started at the gym yesterday in prep for a cheeky new role I'd love to tell you about. But can't. I'm ACHING. Forgot what its like to exercise."

Sam's Hollywood role comes after yesterday's news that ex-EastEnders actor David Witts has been cast in US drama series, Recovery Road. Additionally, Ben Hardy has also landed a "key role" in action movie, X-Men: Apocalypse.

Viewers saw Sam's final appearance in EastEnders in December, when Johnny said goodbye to his family in Walford to go travelling.

Since leaving the soap, Sam landed a role on British crime movie Bonded by Blood 2.
