According to Deadline, David's role as caring counsellor Craig will be a permanent one.

Recovery Road is based on the young-adult novel by Blake Nelson, and focuses on party girl Maddie (Skins actress Jessica Sula), who decides to move to rehab facility Springtime Meadows to live with other recovering addicts.

David played Joey in EastEnders for one year from 2012 to 2013, and he's not the only one to swap Albert Square for Hollywood.

Last month, it was revealed that Ben Hardy landed a "key role" in upcoming action movie, X-Men: Apocalypse, which is scheduled for release in 2016.

Elsewhere, Rob Kazinsky - who played Sean Slater - appeared in vampire drama series True Blood. He has recently been cast as a lead in Fox's Frankenstein pilot.
