The Indiana Jones and Star Wars actor was forced to crash land his light aircraft on a golf course after experiencing difficulties shortly after taking off from the nearby Santa Monica airport.
A statement has now been issued by his rep saying: "Harrison was flying a WW2 vintage plane today which stalled upon take off. He had no other choice but to make an emergency landing, which he did safely.
"He was banged up and is in the hospital receiving medical care. The injuries sustained are not life threatening, and he is expected to make a full recovery."
Harrison, 72, reported engine failure to air traffic control before requesting permission to land.
He was taken to hospital by paramedics.
Last night, his son Ben assured fans his father was okay, tweeting: "At the hospital. Dad is ok. Battered but ok! He is every bit the man you would think he is. He is an incredible strong man."
Harrison is married to former Ally McBeal star Calista Flockhart.
