James Corden has taken a selfie (kind of) after spotting his face plastered across a billboard ahead of his US talk show debut.

Gavin & Stacey star James is the new host of America's hugely popular The Late Late Show and excitement is building as he prepares for his first episode.

It was recently revealed James' first guest will be Hollywood actor Tom Hanks and there has also been rumours that One Direction may be on hand to support him too.

Yesterday, while driving past CBS studios in Los Angeles, James clocked a poster bearing his face. The giant billboard simply read: "The Late Late Show with James Corden."

Comic James, 36, was confirmed in September as the replacement for Craig Ferguson on The Late Late Show.

He is set to take up the mantle on 23 March and recently admitted he felt a touch nervous about taking on such a huge challenge.

Speaking to Variety earlier this week, James said: "I don't know if I'm making a huge mistake, but I'd rather regret doing something than not doing something.

"I think we have a real shot at enjoying ourselves for a bit, which is ultimately all you ever really want, isn't it?"

As part of the interview, James - who is pretty much an unknown face in the US at the moment - visited The Grove shopping centre in LA and asked a woman what she thought of the new Late Late Show host.

The woman replied that she "didn't like" the man. Oops!
