X Factor star Fleur East is hard at work in the recording studio with One Direction's songwriter Wayne Hector.

Fleur was runner-up on The X Factor last year, and her dreams came true some months later when she signed a record deal with Simon Cowell's label Syco.

Now working on new music, Fleur has been penning hits alongside famed British songwriter Wayne, who is also behind the songs from Olly Murs, Nicki Minaj and Rixton.

And now, Fleur has been teasing her musical direction, telling The Sun: "It's going to be urban-inspired with a salute to the old school."

In January, Fleur become the first contestant from series 11 – apart from winner Ben Haenow – to land a record deal.

It was confirmed that she would be releasing her debut album later this year.

Fleur was a standout star on the ITV talent show, with the judges calling her a 'star' and 'born entertainer'.

Her mentor and X Factor boss Simon Cowell said at the time: "Fleur proved what a star she was on the show last year and we now look forward to starting work on her record."

Fleur's most memorable performance on The X Factor was her rendition of Mark Ronson's hit 'Uptown Funk', which climbed to Number One on the iTunes music chart.

Since Fleur's record deal success, third place contestant Andrea Faustini landed a deal with RCA Records, and he celebrated his happy news with a meal at Five Guys!
