TOWIE star Lydia Bright has revealed she is grateful she and James 'Arg' Argent have cleared the air following his return to the show.

Last night, viewers saw Arg back on camera after he had previously been suspended from TOWIE.

Coming face-to-face with ex-girlfriend Lydia Bright, the reality star told his co-star he was sorry for any upset he had caused her.

During the episode, Arg was seen telling Lydia he thinks the pair should keep their distance for a little while.

"After everything that happened, I want to say sorry Lydia," he said. "I've put you through so much. It's my fault, but at the moment, me having contact with you is a bit negative on my life. I think it's a good idea that you do your thing and I do my thing. I'm going to take a big step back."

In a new clip posted to the official TOWIE website, Lydia revealed things had been quite tense between herself and Arg.

She said: "When Arg apologised I was really grateful because we've had a turbulent time over the past few months. A lot of hurtful things were exchanged so it's nice to know he didn't actually mean them.

"It was a little weird at the beginning seeing Arg, but I'm glad we've had this conversation because I don't want any awkwardness between us... I hope it is a fresh start, we shall see."

Lydia's comments come after Arg rejoined his castmates following a suspension from TOWIE, due to excessive partying, in October last year.

Following a stint in rehab over Christmas and a lifestyle overhaul, the 27-year-old returned to our screens looking healthier and happier.

Claiming he is a different person now to what he was a few months ago, Arg admitted he had been in a "horrible and bad place".

Although he admits it was Lydia and her family who inspired him to change, Arg did reveal the only time he now gets upset is because of his former flame.

Determined not to let it affect him anymore, he has said: "At the end of the day, nothing Lydia or anyone else can say or do will affect my recovery. I won't let it happen."

Following the show, Lydia showed her support for Arg on Twitter.

She tweeted: "Welcome back @RealJamesArgent very proud of your return."

TOWIE continues on Wednesday 4 March at 10pm on ITVBe.
