According to Hollywood trade magazine Variety, the star - who played Peter Beale in 'Enders - has landed a key role in the upcoming action movie, which is scheduled for release in 2016.
It had been rumoured last year that Ben was being considered for a part and now it appears he's won it, although character details have not been confirmed.
A source told Variety that his character was someone "significant to the X-Men universe," but plot details were currently being kept secret. Ooh, exciting!
Ben will star alongside the likes of Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy.
His casting news was announced following his departure from EastEnders.
Viewers of the BBC One soap saw Peter Beale saying goodbye to the square and moving to New Zealand to start a new life, shortly after discovering it was Bobby Beale who had killed his twin sister Lucy.
Ben isn't the first EastEnders star to make the leap to Hollywood.
Martine McCutcheon - who played Tiffany Mitchell - starred in Love Actually, while Rob Kazinsky (Sean) appeared in True Blood.
