Viewers saw Ben's exit scene on Tuesday (24 February), as Peter chose to move to New Zealand with pregnant girlfriend Lauren Branning (Jacqueline Jossa), following Lucy Beale's murder reveal.
Jacqueline, who welcomed baby daughter Ella on 15 February with TOWIE star boyfriend Dan Osborne, has also temporarily bowed out of the soap as she is on maternity leave.
Ben actually filmed his final scenes last week during EastEnders' live 30th anniversary episodes, with the fully live 30 minute episode on Friday being his last day.
Taking to Twitter last night, new mum Jacqueline said: "Loved working with @benhardy0291 was a pleasure to leave with him! @bbceastenders I will miss you!"
Ben, 23, replied: "@jacquelineMjos @bbceastenders Ditto! Miss you. Maybe one day Peter will come back to visit Lauren and Pete Jr (that better be his name)."
Ben joined EastEnders as the new Peter in April 2013 and arrived on screen in June, taking over from Thomas Law. Ben's exit was announced in November last year.
Some of Ben's past storylines as Peter include his romance with Lauren and Lola Pearce, as well as the death of his twin sister Lucy.
