To mark the soap's 30th anniversary, fans were left on the edge of their seats as they saw a black taxi pull up on the banks of the Thames to greet Phil Mitchell.
And we're pretty sure there were lots of screaming at the TV, as Kathy Beale, who was supposed to have died in a car accident back in 2006, came 'back from the dead' to greet Phil!
Ian Beale's mum Kathy pleaded with ex-lover Phil to make a return back to Albert Square, but he insisted that she stay away.
So that means Phil has known all along that she was never dead!
However, a Wikipedia entry appeared to have confirmed Gillian would be making a return before the first of last night's episode aired!
Circulating on social media were screengrabs of Gillian's profile, with the date "2015 - " published. Interesting!
And, bosses have confirmed that Gillian is back to stay. EastEnders tweeted: "Kathy comes home! We are thrilled to welcome Gillian Taylforth back to #EastEnders #EELive."
Gillian was last seen in Hollyoaks as Sandy Roscoe. She also starred on the 11th series of Celebrity Big Brother in 2013.
Gillian said: "When executive producer Dominic [Treadwell-Collins] approached me with his plan, I was so shocked I got into my car and burst into tears! Kathy has always been so close to my heart and it's absolutely wonderful to be returning to the show and reprising the role."
Dominic added: "Viewers will have to keep watching to find out exactly why Kathy 'died', where she has been all these years and why she now wants to come home to Albert Square. This is only the beginning of one of the most earth-shattering storylines EastEnders has ever seen…"
Also last night, Lucy Beale's killer was finally revealed! Despite Ian thinking his wife Jane had committed the crime, the late night flashback episode revealed it was in fact his youngest son, 11-year-old Bobby, who killed Lucy.
EastEnders continues tonight for a fully live 30 minute episode at 8pm on BBC One.
