Catherine, who plays barmaid Eva Price, will bow out of the ITV1 soap in scenes to be shown next week.
The actress, who is expecting a baby boy with fiancé Tom Pitfield, told Radio Times: "I've had a really good pregnancy. I'm very fit and healthy, but I can't deny that it has been very tiring at times. Especially with the more emotional scenes!
"It was sometimes hard to stop crying because you have to go to a bit of a dark place. Poor baby was very confused, I imagine!"
Next week, Corrie fans will see the breakdown of Eva and Jason Grimshaw's relationship.
Jason (played by Ryan Thomas) will come to blows with his dad Tony (Terence Maynard) after wrongly accusing his dad of having an affair with Eva. As viewers will know, it's Jason's scheming brother Todd (Bruno Langley), who convinced Jason that Eva and Tony were being unfaithful.
Eva is devastated to discover that Jason doesn't trust her, and in an attempt to win her over, Jason surprises Eva with a pair of tickets to New York, but unable to get over his behaviour she insists on leaving Weatherfield alone.
Instead of going to New York, however, Eva makes plans to stay with her gran Gloria in France.
And Catherine said there were a few tears in her final scenes. "It was very emotional," she added. "It was also sad for me because I won't be working with Ryan for a while - I'm going to miss him a lot!"
Although she'll be off our screens for a while, Catherine can't wait to make a dramatic return: "I can't wait to see her storm back onto those cobbles. I'm really hoping for some more fab storylines when I return. I'm sure I'll be ready for it!"
