The X Factor judge was recently caught on camera as a journalist asked whether Stephen attacked her and held her hostage.
But smiling, Mel called the reporter a "silly bugger" while denying both claims.
In the clip, obtained exclusively by the Mirror Online, Mel is dressed smartly as she briskly walks towards an office block.
She can be heard saying: "No, my husband didn't hit me you silly bugger. No, I didn't get held hostage. It's all stupid rumours. Me and my husband are madly in love."
Rumours of a physical attack first began swirling before Christmas after Mel suddenly pulled out of the X Factor final due to illness.
It was later suggested that her face looked bruised when she returned to the show for the second instalment the following night, but Mel and Stephen strongly denied that he had attacked her.
The couple put on a united front and were later seen holding hands during a trip to New York.
Last month, it was claimed Stephen had "held Mel hostage" in the days leading up to the X Factor final.
Again, the couple spoke out and strongly denied the allegation.
After living in London for the duration of the X Factor live shows, Mel and Stephen has since returned home to Los Angeles. Weeks ago, Mel was pictured with Stephen and her children on the red carpet at the LA premiere of Paddington.
