At the time news of their break up emerged, the Formula One driver was overseas at a testing track in Spain. Earlier today, Lewis was pictured arriving back in the UK and following his return, he took to Twitter to thank his fans for their support.
Lewis said: "Hi everyone. I want to thank you all for the love & support during this tough time. It means the world to me. #TeamLH #bestfansintheworld."

Nicole, meanwhile, chose to address her split with Lewis shortly after it was revealed the pair had called time on their relationship.
Revealing it was a mutual decision to go their separate ways, Nicole told The Sun her split with Lewis was in both their best interests, insisting the pair still had nothing but love and respect for each other.
"I'm devastated that it didn't work out," she said. "It was the hardest decision we had to make, but we made it together."
Neither couple have explained the reasons behind their split, but sources have suggested it was because Nicole was ready to marry and settle down and Lewis wasn't.
They said: "She's finally had enough. Nicole knew Lewis had no plans to marry her, she's completely gutted and feels lost about her future."
In the past, both Nicole and Lewis have said spending time apart has been difficult on their relationship. Due to their careers, the pair are often in different countries, meaning their romance has mainly been long distance.
This is the third time the pair have separated in seven years of dating.
