Scenes shown on Big Brother's Bit On The Side last night showed the housemates' jubilant reactions at learning controversial Perez had been booted from the house just two days before the finale.
"Ah, yes, he is gone!" shouted Calum Best.
Others hugged each other and exchanged celebratory messages. "Sometimes good people can last until the end!" said Michelle Visage, in reference to the remaining five housemates. She also did a little dance.
Perez was the most controversial contestant of the series – and perhaps one of the most controversial ever. He frequently clashed with housemates and annoyed people with his incessant talking and active personality.
But while the housemates were thrilled to see him go, Perez was thrilled to be going!
He told Emma Willis that he'd found the experience "traumatic" and had been desperate to leave. In his interview on BBBOTS, he added that not watching the show before signing up for it had been a mistake.
Much was made of the fact Perez didn't say goodbye to his housemates before leaving: when his name was called, he jumped up in joy and ran for the front door. But he pointed out the finale is in two days' time so it's not like he won't be seeing them very soon!
Perez has insisted he didn't care at all what the housemates or the British public thought about him as his entire focus was on keeping his sanity in check and being voted out.
When it was pointed out he had been upset about comments housemates made and being ostracisied, he replied: "Yes, because it's hard to be in there. It doesn't mean you want them all to start liking you. It's really hard to be in that environment with so much negativity directed at you. That was just me owning that yes, this is hard and draining. If I could go back and not do the show, I wouldn't do it."
But on the bright side, he said he'd made a lifelong friend in Nadia Sawalha and would hopefully stay in touch with Katie Price and Alicia Douvall.
