Fans were clearly thrilled by his unexpected news, as the album's title soon became a trending topic on Twitter.

Adam became a household name in the States back in 2009 when he finished runner-up on the eighth series of American Idol. First album, For Your Entertainment, spawned hit singles including 'For Your Entertainment' and 'Whataya Want From Me'.

The latter single landed Adam a nomination for 'Best Male Pop Vocal Performance' at the Grammy Awards 2011.

His second album Trespassing was released in 2012.

Adam's now become a worldwide star thanks to his massively successful collaboration with Queen: Queen + Adam Lambert. They kicked off the New Year with a BBC One performance watched by an incredible 13 million people and Adam became the most searched Google person for the first three days of this year!

Currently they are on a sold out UK and European tour which included two shows at London's O2 Arena and one at Wembley Arena.
