The actress tells the new issue of Glamour US that she believes Ana actually has more strength than bedroom partner Christian Grey, who is viewed as the dominant one in their BDSM-tinged relationship.
Dakota explains: "I completely disagree with people who think Ana's weak. I think she's stronger than Christian is. Everything she does is her choice. And if I can be an advocate for women to do what they want with their bodies and not be ashamed of what they want, then I'm all for that!"
Based on the erotic novel by E.L. James, Fifty Shades follows billionaire businessman Christian as he introduces Ana to his world of BDSM complete with whips, chains and a Red Room of Pain. He presents her with a contact to sign in which he lays out exactly what he wants and what is expected of her during their partnership.
Christian is played by the impossibly gorgeous Jamie Dornan, who recently starred in BBC thriller The Fall.
He recently told trade mag Variety that he wasn't too thrilled at millions of cinemagoers seeing his sex face when the movie hits screens on Valentine's Day.
"For all the reasons anyone would think, most people would like to keep their sex face private. The idea of a million people seeing that…"
