Emma, who plays Charity Macey in the ITV1 soap, is expecting a baby with long-term boyfriend Tom.
Until this week, Emma - who is eight months pregnant - kept her pregnancy a secret from fans as it would blow cover on Charity's surprise plot, which saw her sentenced to two years in prison.
However, now it's all out in the open, Emma explained that her baby joy has been nothing but "pure excitement".
She told The Sun: "It couldn't come at a nicer time. If all goes according to plan then I'll have my baby just before my 40th birthday - it'll be such a nice birthday present."
Emma, who has been dating businessman Tom for two years, said the pair were "running around the kitchen" after finding out they were expecting.
"I was screaming because I was so excited," she said. "It was great. My life feels really good at the moment - it's all fallen into place."
Emma's exit was only aired on Tuesday (20 January), and despite filming lots of actions scenes while pregnant, she said working everyday helped her to beat morning sickness.
Emma, who is planning a hypnobirth, added: "I've got loads of love to give and loads of laughter, and I'll just muddle through the rest."
After Charity's Emmerdale exit, Emma told fans in a video message that her feisty character would be back in a year.
She said: "I will miss Emmerdale so much but it is a new little journey in my life that I'm taking on now. Argh! I can't wait to come back - hopefully within a year."
