Sheridan Smith had a nightmare at tonight's National Television Awards 2015 ... she got stuck in traffic and missed her win!

The actress was honoured in the 'Best Drama Performance' category for her role as Cilla Black in Cilla but, as it was one of the categories announced early in the night, she missed her big moment because of bad traffic.

How unlucky is that?!

NTA host Dermot O'Leary told the audience: "Due to the wonderful position of the O2, Sheridan is currently stuck in traffic!"

Instead, the actress' colleagues and castmates came up to accept her award and assured the audience Dermot was telling the truth - she really was battling horrendous traffic!

Later in the night, when Sheridan finally made it, she was allowed to come out on stage and have her big moment - albeit late!

"Oh, I am so sorry!" she said. "How embarrassing! Stuck in a cab for three hours! I wasn't expecting this so I have nothing planned other than to say sorry! Thank you to my Cilla team that I haven't even seen tonight yet. As this is a public vote I thought I had no chance. Thank you to every person who voted."
