Just yesterday, ITV announced that the new series of Mr Selfridge will return to our screens on 25 January, but Katherine won't be reprising her role as Lady Mae Loxley as she was on maternity leave when filming began.
Former Coronation Street actress Katherine, who welcomed her first child - daughter Orla -with husband Ryan Clark last year, talked about the period drama, her new acting role and juggling parenting duties on ITV's This Morning.
"I had my little girl in March and then they started filming [Mr Selfridge] in April," explained Katherine. "I really wanted to take a good solid maternity leave so it fell exactly at the wrong point basically. So I'm going to be watching [this series] as much as everybody else is."
Katherine said she has no idea what fans can expect for the third series of Mr Selfridge.
"I was in Australia as well because my husband is from Australia and we decided to have the baby there and just to spend a bit of time with his side of the family, so I absolutely know nothing about this third series... Except that Lady Mae is in Paris having a fabulous time!"
However, there is hope that Katherine will reprise her popular role for series four. "Yes, I hope so," she revealed. "I would [love to see her back]."
Katherine is currently on stage in her first musical, playing Alaura in City of Angels at the Donmar Warehouse.
"It's probably the most enjoyable job that I've done in the year, but I have been on maternity leave for a year, so [laughs].... It's so fun, I skip to work every night. It's great."
And how is Katherine juggling work, family and looking after Orla?
"I do the days, he [Ryan] does the evenings, so I never see him! Hello, Ryan! But Orla's having a great time."
