The X Factor judge and her US film producer husband put on a show of solidarity while attending the Paddington movie premiere in Los Angeles with their family.
Mel and Stephen happily posed for pictures alongside their daughter Madison, three, and Mel's daughters Angel, six, and Phoenix, 15.
It was their first public appearance as a couple since December, when rumours swirled that all was not well in their relationship.
Mel was forced to miss the first part of the X Factor finale through illness and, when she returned for the second night, some fans thought she had bruising on her face.
That led an angry Stephen to vehemently deny ever striking his wife in a strongly-worded Twitter message.
Mel's daughter Phoenix also denied the allegations.
Former Spice Girl Mel also dismissed claims Stephen had been abusive, telling fans: "For the record, my hubby would never lay a hand on me. Sorry took so long but any response fuels rumours."
In an interview conducted before the allegations and denials, mum-of-three Mel had spoken about her love for Stephen.
"I have a healthy relationship with my husband. I married my best friend, who I think is sexy and and hot and gorgeous and beautiful inside and out. I get butterflies whenever I see him still. Sometimes it's because I think I'm in trouble, like, 'Oh God, what did I say?' But when he walks in the room I think, 'Oh my God, that is my husband.'"
"I have a marriage that goes up and down but divorce will never be an option," she told Fabulous.
