X Factor's Fleur East signs record deal with Simon Cowell's label Syco

X Factor runner-up Fleur East has signed to Simon Cowell's record label Syco Music.

Fleur has become the first contestant from series 11 – apart from winner Ben Haenow – to land a record deal.

The news was revealed on Syco's official Twitter account this morning (12 January), which read: "@FleurEast signs to Syco. @TheXFactor finalist will release her debut album later this year."

Fleur was mentored by Simon throughout the competition and she earned praise from all the judges, who called the singer a 'star' and 'born entertainer'.

Speaking of Fleur's recording contract, X Factor boss Simon, said: "Fleur proved what a star she was on the show last year and we now look forward to starting work on her record."

Fleur delivered many memorable performances on the show, from her audition of 'Bang Bang' at the Judges' Houses, to her spectacular 'Uptown Funk' performance during the semi-finals.

'Uptown Funk' was a much-raved about performance for Fleur, and within days, her rendition of the Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars hit climbed to Number One on the iTunes music chart.
