Tulisa appeared on ITV1's Loose Women today (9 January) and revealed that she spent a lot of time in the Caribbean with Simon and his partner Lauren Silverman.
Describing them as "genuine and kind", she believes Simon invited her along on his annual break because of the challenging year she has had following her collapsed drugs trial.
Tulisa said: "I spent a lot of time with them while I was out there. They are such lovely people - Lauren as well, I really got to know her.
"To be fair, I think both of them are just really kind, genuine people and they'd seen that I'd had a bit of a rough year and it was like, 'Come and have a break'. And that was literally what it was."
She added: "While I was out there I was a bit like a naughty, adopted child. I called [Lauren] 'Mummy Lozz."
The question of everybody's lips is whether Tulisa will return to The X Factor this year as a judge. However, she insists any chat of a return was strictly off limits.
"I know there have been loads of stories [saying] I'd gone out there for meetings and to get my job," she said. "[There was] literally no mention of it - it was a holiday, so there have not been any talks."
Tulisa appeared as a judge on the ITV1 singing show from 2011 to 2013. Last year, the former N-Dubz star returned to guest judge at Louis Walsh's Judges' Houses auditions in Bermuda.
In December, Tulisa was then brought in again to replace Mel B, who was forced to miss the first part of the live final due to illness.
Following her comeback, Simon declared that Tulisa "was the only choice" to stand in for Mel.
