However, although the N-Dubz star believes her prayers were answered, she says her enlightenment came in a different form - the collapse of her drugs trial.
Last summer, Tulisa walked free from court after a judge threw out the case against her. She was initially arrested in June 2013 and had stood charged with Being Concerned In The Supply Of A Class A Drug - which she strongly denied.
During an interview on Loose Women earlier today, Tulisa said she had tried to take away the positives, rather than the negatives, from her experience.
"I tried to take it as an experience, rather than a negative, and see the light at the end of the tunnel," Tulisa explained.
"The funny thing is, I'm a religious person and I'd prayed for enlightenment - that's what I'd have liked for 2013.
"i just wanted to see things clearly and feel inner peace. I expected that to come in the form of a nice husband, a picket fence and some kiddies running around.
"Instead I was on trial, but it was my year of enlightenment, although it didn't come in the form I expected it to. I've found inner peace."
After Christmas, Tulisa joined SImon Cowell and his partner Lauren Silverman on holiday in Barbados following her X Factor return.
The former judge, who starred on the show from 2011 to 2013, was brought in to replace Mel B during the live final after she fell ill.
Tulisa has made no secret of the fact she would like to return to the ITV1 show on a permanent basis and today she revealed: "It's something that I've openly said - from the place I was in from the last time I was on it, to where I am now, I feel like I'm in the right place to do it again."
Looking forward to the year ahead, she added: "I just want to stay happy. I feel like I've found - I know it sounds cheesy - but a bit of inner peace.
"I've found myself and I just want to maintain where I'm at. I'm in a positive place in every area of my life and I just want to maintain that. Just give me a smooth run for a bit... A bit of peace and quiet for a while would be lovely."
