Comedian James Corden has said that he is set to release his very own rap album later this year.

There's no denying that funnyman James can sing, but could it be the TV presenter is turning to rap?

Apparently so according to the 36-year-old, but we're not so sure we are convinced!

While promoting his new movie Into The Woods earlier today, James told MTV News he had recently signed a record deal and will be releasing his own rap album in Spring this year.

In a short clip posted to the MTV News website, he said: "I can tell you - but I'm not actually supposed to give this information away - I have just signed a huge deal with Colombia music."

Well, he's definitely let the cat out of the bag!

Promising to take on the likes of Drake and Will Smith, James added: "'I'm not going to rival anyone, I'm going to eclipse them all.

"When you hear me spit my lyrics, you know, my rhymes are fresh and my moves are on point - that's what a lot of people are saying about it."

While James seemed to have us convinced he's going to be the next Jay Z, we weren't so sure he was being serious after he struggled to keep a straight face when talking about his future release.

The A League Of Your Own host burst into laughter as he tried to describe his album, claiming it would be similar to rapper Drake's.

Regaining his cool, James then said he was hoping to bring back "old school rap", before breaking out into his own version of the Fresh Prince of Bel Air theme tune.

Is he just messing, or will he really be given rappers of the music biz a run for their money? We guess we'll have to wait and see!

Meanwhile, James has been busy making his mark on the movie scene in new Disney film Into The Woods.

The film takes a modern twist on well known fairytale classics, with James playing the role of 'the Baker' alongside his onscreen wife Emily Blunt.

Fronting the star-studded cast is Hollywood great Meryl Streep, and Emily revealed she is "still in awe" of her despite having previously worked together.

Speaking on This Morning earlier today, Emily said: "I still get so much inspiration from her. I've known her now for almost ten years and she's become such a friend to me and has been so wonderful to me in this business."

Into The Woods also features Anna Kendrick, Chris Pine and Johnny Depp.
