The Essex favourite, 26, was 18 years old when he auditioned for Big Brother eight years ago and was thrilled to be chosen as a housemate.
Unfortunately, he never got the chance to enter the compound…
Rylan told ITV's Lorraine today: "I'd been the biggest fan of Big Brother since it started. I used to put the Big Brother eye logo on my bag at school. I was that sad kid at school!
"When I was 18 it was the first time I could audition and I got in. I was a housemate and I was taken into hiding, spent two weeks in the Lake District, then two days before I went in, it got all over the papers that I was going in.
"Back then, if you got found out, you weren't going in. I never sort of let it go then six, seven years later I won the Celebrity Big Brother and I'm not presenting it. Brucie Bonus all around!"
As for who leaked the story, he said: "I never found out. But the reporter who wrote it, I still see him every now and again and I'm like, 'I won't talk to you until you tell me!"
After failing to get into BB in 2007, Rylan went on to become a household name in X Factor, before winning Celebrity Big Brother and then landing a role presenting Big Brother's Bit On The Side.
The new series of CBB kicks off on Channel 5 tonight with rumoured housemates including Katie Hopkins, Ex on the Beach star Chloe Goodman, Calum Best, Keith Chegwin and actress Patsy Kensit.
