The 'R.I.P.' singer was promoting her new TV show The Voice UK wearing a white blazer with no bra or shirt underneath, prompting some viewers to complain it was too much for the timeslot.
A message has now been posted on The One Show's website under the heading, "An apology regarding Rita Ora's outfit."
It read: "We're sorry to those of you who were offended by Rita's choice of outfit on The One Show on 5 January. If we had been consulted on it we would have requested she wore something more suitable for 7pm."
According to reports, nearly 400 people made complaints to BBC after watching the segment, which also featured her The Voice UK co-coaches.
However, yesterday, a BBC spokesperson had a slightly different view to that of The One Show, saying: "The One Show allows guests to choose their own attire and pop stars often opt for something glamorous or striking.
"We didn't feel that Rita's outfit would be outside of most viewers' expectations of that of a major pop star, but we appreciate that tastes vary."
Rita has been on the promo trail for the fourth series of The Voice UK all week. This will be her first series as a coach.
She said of joining the series: ""I'm happy I made this choice, it's amazing. When I first thought about doing it, it's something that I had to speak to will.i.am about first as I wasn't sure I wanted to take that pressure on and be responsible."
"But then, I said to myself, if I can find it in me to help someone then I want that, I want to do that because somebody did that for me. "
The Voice UK returns Saturday on BBC One.
