The Voice coach gives his verdict on rival show The X Factor

Could that be because his best pal Cheryl Fernandez-Versini is sitting back on the panel, perhaps?

Asked how his show The Voice compares to that of Simon Cowell's, Will replied: "I think X Factor is needed." and Rita Ora attend the launch for the new series of The Voice UK, Mondrian Hotel, London

Speaking during an appearance on Capital FM's breakfast show yesterday, Will revealed he thinks there is a place for both The Voice and The X Factor on the UK's TV screens.

"I like doing The Voice, I like the format. But I also like what X Factor has to offer too," he said. "I'm just being a transparent and honest person.

"I can't say it's better. I think The Voice is better because, I like the format, I like the memories that I've had there, I like how nice we are to the contestants, but you do need both!"

Louis' comments come after Rita revealed she turned down The X Factor for The Voice.

Will's comments come after One Direction's Louis Tomlinson was left unimpressed after The X Factor was namechecked during publicity for the new series of The Voice.

He tweeted: "Is bad mouthing The X Factor the only way The Voice knows how to promo their show? #everyyear."

Although the 1D star didn't reveal exactly what he was referring to, his tweets come after new Voice coach Rita Ora claimed she had turned down X factor for the role.

Speaking to Reveal last month, she said: "It's about the voice and the music, which is why I chose to say yes to it. I'm not saying X Factor doesn't give you freedom, but it's a different kind of procedure."

Rita sought Will's reassurance before saying yes to joining the coaching panel.

Despite supporting The Voice and the show's format, Rita did admit she had her reservations about replacing Kylie Minogue at yesterday's launch for the new series.

She said: "When I first thought about doing it, it's something that I had to speak to Will about first as I wasn't sure I wanted to take that pressure on and be responsible.

"But then, I found my balls and I said to myself, if I can find it in me to help someone then I want that, I want to do that because somebody did that for me."

And, it seems the blonde beauty had nothing to worry about as she is settling in just fine to her spinning red chair.

While Sir Tom Jones said Rita "fits the bill perfectly" on the panel, Emma Willis gushed: "I love her! She's great. She's taken to [being coach] so brilliantly."

We can't wait to see her in action!
