X Factor winner Ben Haenow officially signed his record deal with Simon Cowell's Syco Music today – that's a pretty great 30th birthday present!

The former van driver sealed the deal on his recording contract on Tuesday morning (6 January), meaning he's ready to start work on his debut album.

New boss Simon Cowell said: "Ben is a great talent and a great guy. I'm thrilled he is now officially part of the Syco family and can't wait to get working with him on his first album. And happy birthday Ben!"

Today will definitely be a day that Ben remembers! Signing a major record deal and marking his milestone 30th birthday...

Ben joked this morning: "I have woken up 30 years old, genuinely hurt my back. I'm no officially old! Great start! Thank you for all your lovely messages."

The Croydon singer won the 11th series of X Factor in December 2014, beating bookies' favourite Fleur East to the crown. His winner's single, a cover of OneRepublic's 'Something I Need', was this year's Christmas number one.

We can't wait to see what this year brings!

Ben previously said he'd love to achieve the success enjoyed by former X Factor contestant Olly Murs, who has become a successful singer and TV presenter since leaving the show.
