The Voice UK's returning coaches Sir Tom Jones and Ricky Wilson have revealed why they keep coming back to star on the show.

On Saturday night (10 January), The Voice will return to our screens with a brand new batch of singing hopefuls, hoping to impress the show's four coaches.

While Rita Ora is the latest addition to the panel, Tom is back for his fourth year as coach - as is will.i.am - and Ricky is returning for his second. But, what is it about The Voice that makes them want to reclaim their seat?

"It reassures me that I'm helping people," Tom explained. "Giving advice to singers - I think that's a good thing."

He continued: "We're all performers, we know what it's like to be on stage, so to give [our experience] to other people - I would have loved that when I was young."

Defending the show against claims its contestants haven't been as successful as other talent shows, Kaiser Chiefs' frontman Ricky added: "[The Voice] might not be churning out superstars, but that's a good thing.

"In the next few years, hopefully you'll see people bringing out records and churning out hits. When they then go on Graham Norton and he says 'remember this?' and shows a clip from the show... we're building careers."

Asked how he copes with the pressure of being a coach on The Voice, Ricky claimed he finds it "really easy" advising young singers.

He said: "I think really carefully about what I say because the contestants are really listening. I'm not saying things just to be funny or entertaining... It's about them, you have to tell them the truth. That's pretty easy to get right."

Ricky and Tom joined their fellow coaches Rita and Will at the launch.

Despite signing up for a second season on the show, Ricky insisted he won't be giving up his day job and taking a break from the Kaiser Chiefs to do so.

"I've learnt from Tom, and Rita and Will, successful people work everyday," Ricky told Reveal. "They say 'playing in a band' not working, it's given me a real boost. Although I love sitting on the sofa and watching cr*p TV, I love being in a band and singing more."

Rocking out one minute, and then sitting next to the one and only Tom Jones the next, it sounds like he's got the best of both worlds!

Speaking about the coaching panel this year, Tom added: "We have a lot of fun together. It's good to like one another when you're working together, who wants to sit next to someone they don't like?!"

Ricky revealed new coach Rita Ora has been very competitive throughout the contest so far.

But, while they may be all friends, it's safe to say the competition is hotting up between them.

"[Rita] is very competitive - I like that," Ricky revealed. "You have to be. As soon as you lose that competitive edge, you've lost.

"I never enter a competition if I don't think I can win it - which is terrible. I won't enter a snooker competition down the pub because I'm not very good at it. Losing would kill me."

Fellow coaches... you have been warned!
